Longevity is an issue every athlete faces in their career. Even if their heart wants to stay in the game, more often than not, the body refuses to comply. 13 seasons in, it seems Golden State Warriors’ star man Stephen Curry is looking for tips to maintain his form. And attain that ever-elusive longevity in his career. And the man he turned to for advice, is a master of the art himself. It is none other than the Tampa bay Buccaneers’ QB and NFL legend, Tom Brady.

During a conversation with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke at the Warriors Media Day, Curry reveals his attitude towards approaching the later stages of his career. He also shines a brief light on his conversation with Brady about the same subject.

“Coming into my career, 16 years was always the goal. But times have changed and I feel like, obviously I know I can extend my prime. I’m still in my prime, — I’m trying to extend it as long as I can. But the way that you do that and talking to the ultimate prime extender in Tom Brady, I talked to him a little bit. Curry is a 4 time NBA champion with the Warriors and has many records to his name. His father, Wardell Stephen Curry, played for 16 years in the NFL too. And his brother Seth Curry is currently playing for the Brooklyn Nets. Even after 13 years, Curry is still matching his career average in points (25.5), assists (6.3), and rebounds (5.3) in 34.5 minutes a game.

While Stephen Curry‘s choice of taking advice from Tom Brady is understandable, it seems longevity can come with its own set of problems. And once again, the best person to teach Curry about those problems is Tom Brady. Brady’s decision to un-retire from football earlier this year set off a series of events that has ultimately threatened to end his marriage with Gisele Bündchen.

Bündchen, for a long time, has been skeptical of her husband playing football. The risk of injury that comes with playing in any position, especially a quarterback, seems to have unsettled her. And of course, his constant absence from the house, either in the name of game practice or for his other ventures during the off-season, seemed to put Bündchen off. More importantly, Brady was unable to spend more time with the children, a fact that he has openly admitted to being regretful about.

With things taking a sour turn in Brady’s personal life, it will be interesting to see if Curry will take lessons from his advisor’s mishaps. Brady and Bündchen have survived a divorce scare before, so fingers are crossed everywhere with the hopes that with some miracle, they can set aside their differences and come back stronger than ever.
