McCarthy if Jayden Daniels is not available. “If I were the Patriots and Jayden Daniels is not there, I would personally take J.J. McCarthy,” expressed Nystrom. He also hinted at the possibility of exploring a trade scenario, indicating that McCarthy is highly valued on their draft board and potentially even on par with other top prospects like Drake Maye.

The speculation surrounding the Patriots’ draft intentions coincides with a larger rumor involving the Minnesota Vikings, who are reportedly eyeing a trade to secure their own quarterback of the future. With the Vikings possessing the 11th and 23rd picks in the first round, pundits believe they have the ammunition to move up in the draft order.

In various mock drafts, including one by Chris Trapaso of CBS Sports, the Patriots are depicted as trading their third overall pick to the Vikings, who select Maye. Consequently, the Patriots would then target McCarthy with the 11th pick, solidifying their quarterback position.
