Boston College Eagles punter Sam Candotti is celebrating their Super Bowl eligibility the Aussie way! And thanks to former NFL punter Pat McAfee, who commented on the Australian player’s fake punt in their last game against the Syracuse Orange. And the Boston punter disclosed something wildly fascinating in just a picture.

The Eagles’ last 17-10 victory against the Orange makes them eligible for the Super Bowl at 6-3. They delivered an impressive game, with Sam Candotti highlighting the game with his antics. Boston took their celebration to social media, where players posted with their 2023 Bowl Bound sweatshirt. Will they live up to their celebration?

Sam Candotti celebrates the Australian way

The Pat McAfee Show creator and host posted his views on the #43 Boston College Eagles punter on Twitter, saying, “BC Punter calling out his own number is beautiful. DO YOUR DANCE YOUNG MAN.” In response to this, Boston College Football’s official Twitter account posted a picture of Sam Candotti drinking from a shoe. The caption reads, “Sam Candotti. For the Brand.

Many people would see Sam Candotti’s unique celebration as weird and unconventional. But the Eagles punter isn’t doing anything he isn’t aware of. In Australia, there is a tradition called shoey, where people drink from a shoe either as a celebration or punishment. During Australia’s 2021 ICC T20 World Cup victory over New Zealand, two players, Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis, celebrated the victory by drinking from a shoe.

So, apparently, it is still a tradition in practice, as these incidents revive Australia’s rich history. As an Australian himself, Sam Candotti is only celebrating their victory in his native Aussie style, perhaps the first in football. We hope Pat McAfee knows better.

Boston marches towards the Super Bowl

The last win against Syracuse didn’t come like a piece of cake because there were lots of struggles from Boston. Sam Candotti stole the game with his fake punt and darted six yards for the first down. With the last victory marking their fifth straight win, the Eagles will make their Super Bowl appearance for the first time since 2010, which is a cause for celebration.

Boston head coach Jeff Hafley said, “We’re happy. We’re going to go to a bowl. But now we’re going to get a better one. We know that the path is there to do a lot more. I can’t wait for that.” With enthusiasm like that, we can’t wait for what happens with Boston as they head toward their Super Bowl appearance.

As for the Syracuse Orange, they are lagging with 4-5. They need to win two of their last three games to qualify for the Super Bowl. We hope Sam Candotti and the Eagles aren’t giving everything to this celebration, which would be a mini one compared to the celebration when they win the Super Bowl.
