After Alabama’s first practice with DeBoer, the coach appeared for a press conference. On being asked about his plans for taking in Sabb, he gave a brief sketch about what expectations he holds for the player and the manner in which he is going to align with Crimson Tide now that DeBoer was at the helm. Bringing into light Sabb’s impressive track record, he commented, “Because of the level that he took his team to win a championship that fits in well with what we’re trying to accomplish and what we’re trying to do and just the character makeup aside from of course what we know is a great football player. Even though Alabama lost eight defensive backs overall, DeBoer is hopeful that the Michigan transfer should be playing a major role in Alabama’s secondary this spring. Now that Alabam freshman safety Caleb Downs has left Crimson Tide, Sabb will fill in the gap left by the elite player and carry forward his exceptional performance from last season.

Sabb’s had a notably impressive 2023 season with the Wolverines. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound defensive back exhibited his prowess by amassing 28 tackles, 2 interceptions and 4 pass breakups. Being a top-100 prospect, Sabb contributed significantly to the Wolverines’ triumphant national championship campaign.

Despite being limited to a secondary role with the return of both starting safeties, Makaru Paife and Rod Moore, his star potential has not gone unnoticed. His impressive sophomore season, capped by a stellar National Championship in 2023, suggests his readiness to take the place of Downs.
