The NFL world is still recovering from the terrible incidents of Monday Night Football. The Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals game, which was supposed to be a heavily contested fight between Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, instead became the scenes for melancholy as Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field with a cardiac arrest. And, Pat McAfee and Aaron Rodgers aren’t happy with the way the NFL handled things.

Most recently, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers expressed his horror and shock at watching the events of the game unfold right before his eyes. But it was his host and former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee who was more affected. McAfee seethed at the NFL’s mishandling of the sensitive situation. Especially the controversial 5-minute warmup call that came in the middle of this harrowing scene.

Rodgers couldn’t believe the announcement. “They had just come back from break and said, all right we’re gonna give ’em 5 minutes and throw them back out there. And I was like ‘What!’,” A-Rod recalled his horror.

However, McAfee wants the guy responsible to be sacked immediately. And not just from the NFL, but from all sports-related matters and discussions. “When someone gets an ACL, they move the drill 10 yards…. The 5-minute thing last night is kinda like, let’s move the drill here. Once we get this guy off the field, we’ll go…. I think we do have to find out who is the person that seemingly went, yeah we’re back on this. Let’s do it. And that person should be removed. From all competition. Let alone the NFL,” he said on the Pat McAfee Show.

The Bengals and Buffalo Bills game ultimately got suspended. However, that happened nearly an hour after Hamlin’s terrible accident took place. And fans and experts slammed the NFL executives and their commissioner Roger Goodell for their lukewarm handling of the situation.

Goodell didn’t address the media and sent executive Troy Vincent to the main stage. However, Vincent and the NFL denied all accusations regarding the warmup drill. “I’m not sure where that came from. That’s ridiculous. And that’s insensitive,” Troy said, explaining the confusion surrounding the 5-minute warmup.

Aaron Rodgers explicitly clarified how football became the last priority in that critical situation when players and coaches could only pray for Hamlin. The medical team transferred Damar to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Moreover, his vitals are slowly regaining stability. However, the 24-year-old remains on breathing support and is still in critical condition. A-Rod and Pat McAfee will surely pray for Hamlin after their displeasure with the NFL subsides.
