After Joe Burrow Injury, is Justin Herbert Leading the Race for the NFL MVP Award?

Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow started Week 11 as the top contender for this year’s NFL Rookie of the Year award in 2020. Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson and Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa were also on that list. But the closest player challenge Burrow was Los Angeles Chargers, Justin Herbert.
After Joe’s unfortunate injury on Sunday against the Washington Football Team, the former LSU man is expected to spend a couple of weeks (at least) on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Herbert led the Chargers to a 34-28 win over the hapless New York Jets earlier today.
With Tua Tagovailoa also suffering the first defeat of his NFL career, is Herbert the frontrunner for the ROTY title?

Justin Herbert had another productive outing in Week 11 at the SoFi Stadium. The rookie went 37 of 49, throwing for 366 yards with 3 passing touchdowns to his name.
Herbert has now thrown for close to 2,700 yards from 10 games with 22 passing TDs in his rookie year. These numbers are considerably better than those of Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa.

The #1 NFL draft pick, Joe Burrow, took a nasty hit to his left leg. The extent of his injury is unknown for now. He might need to go under the knife if the scans come back with concerning results. Let’s hope the Bengals starlet comes through unscathed.
In addition to that, Herbert also helped the Chargers to their 3rd win of the season on Sunday. However, Anthony Lynn’s boys are still at the bottom of the AFC West Division behind Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos.
