Von Miller would have loved to join Dallas Cowboys, considering he grew up in the Dallas Fort-Worth area. But things don’t always pan out the way people want them to in reality. Similarly, Miller snubbed the offer by the Cowboys to join a better pay grade on contract with the Buffalo Bills. NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe expressed his feelings about the deal and justified why Jerry Jones held himself back.

The billionaire owner of the Dallas Cowboys is highly involved in making decisions about trades and drafts. As a result, he offered Von a deal worth $70 million over five years, even though he could have maximized his salary cap. However, per Shannon, nobody is willing to spend all their money on wrong things. So in comparison to the Bills’ deal, Jones couldn’t offer the LB more money.

The Buffalo Bills offered $120 million to Miller over six years. As per reports, he also had an offer from his former team, the LA Rams. But he chose to go with the massive payout that the Bills are offering, among other things. Cowboys were also bidding for Randy Gregory with the same contract. Unfortunately, Gregory joined the Denver Broncos to his benefit, thereby snubbing the Cowboys.

In addition, Miller expressed why he didn’t join the Cowboys despite his dream of returning home. He said, “I told them I was ready to come to the Cowboys. I would have taken less to go to Dallas because it’s Dallas. But I wouldn’t take that much less.” Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless analysed the situation as well.

Sharpe comments that six years for $120 million is a good deal for the LB. Since there is no state income tax, Miller can get that back, 6-8-10%. However, when the discrepancy is $50 million, players would usually keep the tax cuts in mind. Further, after clarifying why Miller took the deal, the Hall of Famer explains why Jerry Jones did not go for the big payout in an unusual anecdote.

Miller is also defending himself on Twitter for snubbing his home team and going to play for the Bills. Moreover, the Cowboys did not max out their salary cap for Miller and Randy Gregory. It will be interesting to watch how strong the defense of the Cowboys is considering they couldn’t sign these two defensive giants.
