The Cleveland Browns and their former starting quarterback Baker Mayfield reached a stage of no return where separation appears inevitable. A trade scenario is the most logical outcome for Mayfield amid ongoing concerns for the Browns over QB Deshaun Watson. The newly acquired QB could be set for a spell on the sidelines following his impending suspension over off-the-field antics.

The ever-developing situation has led to cries for the franchise to consider mending fences with Mayfield for the upcoming season. However, NFL analysts and former defensive back Bucky Brooks believe that the Browns have already made arrangements. Brooks reveals that the Mayfield situation in Cleveland is untenable, and a comeback is wishful thinking.

The former NFL DB stated, “You gotta move on. Because everything we’ve heard, everything we’ve seen with the Baker Mayfield experience is that it didn’t go the way that the Browns wanted it to. Particularly when Odell Beckham Jr. leaves to go to LA. Odell was a problem in Cleveland, and in LA he is a model citizen. He looked like he was gonna be the Super Bowl MVP. And then all of the teammates were like why did we get rid of Odell? Odell was great…I think they are very comfortable with the way the QB room it is. I don’t see a situation where Baker Mayfield is coming back and wearing the No. 6 for the Browns again.

Will the Cleveland Browns thrive without a recognizable QB like Deshaun Watson and Baker Mayfield?

While both Watson and Mayfield will be unavailable for the 2022 NFL campaign, the organization has brought in two able backup QBs. The former Miami Dolphins QB Jacoby Brissett serves probably the best option for the franchise and will be the starting QB. Brissett has shown flashes of quality during his time with the Colts and the Patriots and can be the perfect stop-gap for the franchise.

The Browns also brought former Pittsburgh Steelers reserve QB Josh Dobbs to provide backup for Brissett next season. While Dobbs has had a quiet start to his professional footballing career, it could be an opportunity for him to shine and display his concealed qualities.

The Browns fans will be a bit skeptical about the franchise and their plans, but Brissett is capable of pulling his weight. As the excitement and buzz seem to have died down in recent weeks, it will be up to Brissett to put on a show and lift them out of their seats.
