“And Then You Know Tore My…”: Tom Brady Turns the Clock Back to a Painstaking Incident That Kept Him Under the Radar for Eight Long Years

Tom Brady may have spent 23 seasons with the NFL but hasn’t had the luck to play in a place that is very special to him. Despite his long run in the league, TB12 has hardly played in his hometown. The San Mateo native grew up loving the San Francisco 49ers. Ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ bout against the 49ers, Brady was asked about how it feels to play in front of friends and family in the place he grew up.
Brady remarked on the uniqueness of the situation. He stated that despite having a long career; he has been able to play in the Bay Area only once in 2016. The seven-time Super Bowl champion said that he always considered himself a California kid.

TB12 fondly recollected how he fell in love with football and the 49ers and grew up loving the team. But he also mentioned that he started disliking the 49ers when they skipped him over during the 2000 NFL draft.
Tom Brady missed out on an opportunity in 2008
The QB had another opportunity to play in San Francis in 2008, but an unfortunate turn of events did not see it happen. TB12 tore his ACL shortly before their scheduled game.

While remarking on this incident, Brady narrated the sequence of events leading up to the moment. “Never got a chance to go out there, was supposed to go out there in 0’8 and we had it all set up, we were talking all off-season, my first time going out there and then you know tore my ACL in week one,” he said.

Brady remarked that he had to wait eight years for another chance to play at home. But when it did happen years later, the TB12 said that it was really fun. To top it off, his parents did not have to travel to see him in action. Now, Brady will be excited to be back home.
How well might the Bucs fair against the 49ers?
The Bucs will hope to win against the 49ers. In a faceoff between two divisional leaders, the 49ers have the better record. Currently, at 8-4, they have had a reasonably better season than their opponents. The Bucs, on the other hand, have been inconsistent all season. A poorly performing division has offered them the chance to be at the top despite their 6-6 record.

Tom Brady and the Bucs may find themselves in the postseason because of the lack of competency from the NFC South. But that cannot be taken for granted. Eventually, they will have to face it. TB12’s inconsistency has been worrisome to the NFL World. Fans will be thrilled to hopefully see him in top shape against the San Francisco 49ers.
