Fresh off their dominance of the Chicago Bears, the Dallas Cowboys are not looking to stay quiet during their bye week either. Even with injuries plaguing their offense, their backups have more than stepped up and ensured the team is not suffering. The Cowboys now have a top 5 standing in the NFC and possess one of the most lethal defenses in the NFL. And it seems the Cowboys might be making plans to add a new member to the roster on deadline day.

The Cowboys have been the center of trade rumors for most of the season. After their new signing, James Washington suffered a training injury before the season started. Cowboys’ Executive VP, Jerry Jones, mentions the possibility of a deadline day trade. “I think it all has to be the right move.… If we can make ’em, we’ll make ’em. If not …”

Appearing on ESPN 94.1, he talks about receiving and making calls about potential trading options with other clubs. On whether he was making or taking more calls, he says, “I think it’s both. We like to make sure we know everything that’s out there. We obviously check in with every team, and for the most part, vice versa. But I think in general, that’s part of business in the NFL as you get closer to the deadline, just making sure you know what might be out there that could help you out.”

Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones, was on the ‘105.3 The Fan’ radio show, wherein he says this when asked about Odell Beckham Jr. “He made the greatest catch I’ve seen, other than the one Dez (Bryant) made for the touchdown against Green Bay. Bottom line is, Odell is a player that I admire a lot.”

When the ‘Dallas Morning News’ asked him if he has any offers from teams on his table, he says, “Yes, the answer is yes. I don’t want to go beyond that, but the answer is yes.”

Most rumors about the Cowboys‘ trading are centered around the wide receiver position. Dallas already has a good number of players, but a good signing will go a long way in their hunt for a playoff spot. CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup did well against the Chicago Bears but evidently did not live up to the promise. Noah Brown’s injury meant he did not play against Chicago, and his replacement, rookie Jalen Tolbert, did not even get targeted for a single play.

Finally, the veteran James Washington fractured his right foot early in training camp. The $1.1 million signing was the highlight of the Cowboys’ off-season, and his return is imminent. Washington’s return might just help the Cowboys plug the gap that Amari Cooper left before they traded him to the Cleveland Browns.
