Twitter was in utter disbelief to hear one more wide receiver grabbing a lucrative deal this offseason. After Stefon Diggs signed a contract extension with the Buffalo Bills, fans were keen to react to the news. Despite having two more years with the team, Diggs was given an extension for four years on Monday.

Last year, the Bills quarterback Josh Allen was given a contract extension. The deal ties him through the 2028 season. Diggs receiving a similar deal makes him a permanent member of the club for the upcoming six seasons in the league.

Fans react to Stefon Diggs signing a contract extension

The Buffalo Bills made a clever move by keeping their star wide receiver for a long time at a more affordable price as compared to his counterparts in the league. This will help the franchise build a strong team surrounding the Allen-Diggs partnership for the upcoming seasons.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills reached an agreement with Stefon Diggs for a four-year, $104 million extension that includes a $70 million guaranteed salary cap. This contract made Diggs hop into the second spot after Tyreek Hill in terms of guaranteed money concerning their corresponding contracts.

All these developments led the fans to take on Twitter to share their opinion on the deal. “I’m done being a Bills fan. I can’t handle the stress of watching Allen every weekend just knowing a turnover is coming within a few plays max” a Twitter user commented.

While another user sarcastically commented that the Bills chose Diggs over the entire defense.

Well, it’s yet to see how much the Diggs extension will prove fruitful for the franchise and its future ambitions.

Where does Diggs stand in the list of highest-paid WRs?

In terms of average annual value, Diggs will receive $26 million per year. It means Diggs will hold the fourth position in the tally below Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, and DeAndre Hopkins.

However, in terms of total guaranteed salary, he steps above Davante Adams securing a second position in the list. Interestingly, he has now joined the extensive club of elite NFL receivers to sign a contract worth $100 million or more after Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, and Amari Cooper.

While in terms of total salary, Diggs finds a spot below Adams and Hill. The former Kansas City Chiefs WR(Tyreek Hill) signed a four-year extension, and Adams made a five-year agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders for $141 million. While other receivers had to find a different club to sign such long-term lucrative deals, Diggs is fortunate to have his team support for his future.
