The 2022 -NFL owners’ meeting became a massive debate over multiple issues. The league is going through a legion of disputes this year; Be it the Dan Snyder issue or the contentious roughing the passer calls. But this year, the attention turned to team owners Robert Kraft and Jerry Jones. The debacle was over the Commissioner’s pay, and Jones had a problem with it.

In the 2022 owners’ meet, the franchise owners voted 31-1 to allow their pay committee to discuss terms with Roger Goodell on a new deal. The Commissioner’s five-year deal would end soon, but the league owners had faith in him. However, Jerry Jones heatedly exchanged the situation with Robert Kraft.

As per Seth Wickersham, Robert Kraft has joined the overwhelming number of strongly supporting Goodell’s contract talks. However, Jerry Jones was the sole dissenter in the owners-only meeting. As a result, he told the Patriots’ owner, “Don’t f*** with me.” When Kraft responded, “Excuse me?” Jones said, “Don’t mess with me.”

Jones allegedly voted negative on the motion because of the makeup of Goodell’s payout. According to ESPN, Jones is apprehensive about the terminology used in his compensation. The incentives may be overly ballpark rather than concretely linked to financial goals or other measures. Jones also had a similar concern in the past.

Jerry Jones also referenced Robert Kraft as a ‘p***y’ in his interaction with Roger Goodell. He did not think the suspension he imposed on Ezekiel Elliott in 2017 was appropriate. Jones brought up Kraft’s resistance after Goodell penalized New England for the Deflategate debacle. The Cowboys owner called that his effort would be minor compared to what he conspired.

As per NFL.com, Jerry Jones mentioned, “I think he’ll be back, and I think we’ll get to do anything that we want to do. No one is more prepared. No one has spent more hours getting ready to play a football game than Dak. I think we’ve got it all there, the full repertoire, so I don’t think there will be any limitations on anything we do.”
