Joe Burrow will play his second consecutive AFC Championship game tonight against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a rerun attempt to the Super Bowl. However, Burrow’s greatness didn’t come out last year and was well visible during his Heisman-winning college years. However, there was one LSU story that still bothers Joe Shiesty from time to time.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback likes to look after himself. People don’t dub him as the next Tom Brady for nothing. And a major part of looking after yourself is the food consumed. Burrow remembers the time his LSU teammates mocked him for a healthy salad choice over fried chicken.

“Well, I went to grab a salad as a little pre-appetizer for some lasagna and I just start getting made fun of. I look around and I was like, what are you guys talking about? Like I can’t eat a salad down here? And they said no, grab the fried chicken. So, I said okay,” Joe Burrow narrated the dining hall ordeal in a 97.1 radio interview.

Popeye’s chicken is a Louisiana staple and the LSU staff even kept it handy for the many local athletes in the program. And Burrow just had to make do.
Burrow and the Bengals can incite some Popeye’s magic for Pat Mahomes
The Popeye’s ritual goes way back and Joe Burrow needs to pay attention ahead of the rematch clash with Mahomes. Popeye’s chicken has proved to be lucky before. The New Orleans Saints used it in the 2014 playoffs and it worked wonders as they won the franchise’s first-ever road playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Head coach Sean Payton stocked the locker room and the plane with their favorite fried chicken. And the Saints beat the Eagles 26-24 with a last-minute field goal.

However, Burrow may want to go with the salad tonight, given that he is already 3-0 against the Chiefs. The Chiefs have already lost a lot of the home advantage with Patrick Mahomes’ injury worries. And fans are already calling the ground ‘Burrowhead’ ahead of the much-awaited matchup.
