He was 62-year-old when the incident happened. The veteran played for the Green Bay Packers and made a significant contribution to the New England Patriots in his career.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety report, Weishuhn was driving a 2001 Dodge 2500 pickup northbound on Mikulik Road 4.3 miles northwest of San Angelo at 7:05 p.m when “for an unknown reason the driver drifted into the east ditch, over-corrected skidding across the roadway into the west ditch, and into a dirt field.”

The pickup rolled over and Weishuhn was ejected during the crash. The vehicle then “began to roll over to the right and came to rest upright, facing south,” the report stated. Moreover, it was understood that he was not wearing a seatbelt and was declared dead on the spot. No other vehicles were involved in the scene.

Weishuhn was a significant linebacker for the New England Patriots

Weishuhn was an All-American linebacker for Angelo state. He was a speedy, rugged player when the New England Patriots acquired him from the 1982 draft class. The consecutive year, in 1983, he started 16 games for the Patriots. He registered 229 tackles — 14.3 per game which is a franchise record for the Patriots still unbroken.
