Last season in the NFL, was a scary time to witness for fans in the NFL world. A lot of players suffered from injuries on the field that led to questions being raised about players’ health in the game. One such incident that stuck in the mind of the fans was the cardiac arrest of Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin. Hamlin collapsed on the field after his heart suddenly stopped after a tackle during a game with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 25-year-old has made a recovery from the incident recently and it seems like things are looking better for Hamlin. The Bills safety and his family recently visited US President Joe Biden at the White House.

After the special visit with the President, Hamlin took to social media to share a few words of appreciation about Biden.

On Thursday, Hamlin got together to have a special meeting with POTUS at the White House. President Biden shared a tweet of a picture with Hamlin, stating that it was an honor for him to meet Hamlin and his family. Hamlin also shared the tweet, saying that the conversations they had during the meeting were valuable.

Damar Hamlin and Biden to discuss the prospects of the expansion of AEDs programs in school. The White House said that Hamlin’s efforts were the primary factors in making life-saving technologies more available, as it was a defibrillator that saved Hamlin’s life on the field.

Hamlin’s cardiac arrest scare

During a game with the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, Hamlin collided with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins in a tackle. The safety momentarily got back on his feet, but then suddenly collapsed back on the ground. Medical personnel performed CPR and used a defibrillator to make Hamlin’s heart beat again after the cardiac arrest. Then, after 5-10 minutes of spot medical care, Hamlin was transported to the hospital.

Since the life-threatening event, Hamlin has made a strong recovery. After a few days at the hospital, he continued his recovery at his own home. It is without a doubt that this event will act as a reminder motivate Hamlin to ensure the availability of life-saving devices more prominently.
