‘Making $45M a Year Wouldn’t Sit Right’: NFL World Unhappy With This Young QB Getting ‘Patrick Mahomes’ Money

The 2023 free agency will be an interesting watch for every fan. Many stars will enter free agency and many franchises are working to avoid it. One of the football players is a young QB who wants a contract worth $45 million a year, something that the likes of Patrick Mahomes get. But the NFL world is unhappy with him potentially getting that kind of money at this stage of his career.

The 25-year-old QB commandeered his franchise to the playoffs and wants the powers that be to acknowledge the work that he has put in for them. The team’s trip to the postseason for the first time in six seasons was quite an achievement, but is it worthy enough to earn him a Patrick Mahomes-like deal? 

What is Patrick Mahomes’ contract?

The Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes signed a huge contract with the franchise on the back of his Super Bowl win in 2020. Although many expected him to sign for big money, the length of the contract stunned the NFL world. Mahomes signed a 10-year deal with the Chiefs worth $450 million. That means his average annual salary is a whopping $45 million. However, Mahomes has justified his big-money contract.

He has led the team to the AFC championship game in every season as a starter. The Chiefs have had three Super Bowl appearances in the last four seasons and have won the big game twice.

Daniel Jones, however, doesn’t have such results to back his claim. He has made the playoffs just once since making his bow in the NFL. This came in the 2022 NFL season where the QB led the Giants to nine wins in the 16 games he played in the regular season.

Now that he is heading to free agency, he reportedly wants a $45 million-a-year contract. But his demand is not sitting well with the NFL world.

NFL world unhappy with Daniel Jones’ demand 

Some of the fan reactions to this news have not been positive, with many demanding that the New York Giants let Daniel Jones go. Some other fans even took the opportunity to blame other franchises for ruining the market for everyone.
