REPORTS: Baker Mayfield May Actually Remain Cleveland Browns’ QB1 Due To This Troublesome Development

Just when things were looking bad for Baker Mayfield, there’s some new hope on the rise for him. However, the development looks to be rather negative than positive. The situation majorly concerns Deshaun Watson, the Newbound QB for the Cleveland Browns. For him, things have taken a major twist.
Deshaun Watson was among the most polarizing athletes in the NFL. Despite the multiple allegations, he still got a starting role with the Cleveland Browns. This also brought in some tension over the Browns and Mayfield situation, which was another strange progress taking place. While that happening was like a no-show, the recent development over Deshaun makes situations more enigmatic.

According to ESPN, another woman has filed a complaint about Deshaun Watson, adding 22 women who have accused the quarterback of improper conduct in legal proceedings filed in 2021. Interestingly, the woman changed her position about filing a complaint after viewing a segment about accusations on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” the other week.

Prior to Tuesday, Watson had repeatedly denied any misconduct in the complaints. Two Texas grand juries have refused to press charges over Watson, who has denied any misconduct. Currently, the league is looking into whether Watson broke the league’s code of ethics and conduct guideline. As part of that inquiry, they interrogated the quarterback in person.

Watson was a member of the Houston Texans before being moved to the Cleveland Browns. The franchise gave him a remarkable guaranteed contract of $230 million over 5 years.

With Watson probably heading into more trouble, this might open the ray of hope for Baker Mayfield. The QB struggled a bit during his time with the Browns and has been rather open towards the uncertain situation over Twitter. His future is still like a debate for many people. However, it now looks rather clear why the Cleveland Browns didn’t cut him.

The situation of Deshaun Watson still looks unclear as he faces another misconduct charge. The NFL’s investigation is still on, and it might lead them to the suspension of Watson for a long time. On the other hand, this might open a window for Mayfield to be in the starting rotation of the Browns and be the season opener of the year 2022.
