A whole of people all over the USA believe that the Dallas Cowboys have what it takes to win the Super Bowl. However, Stephen A. Smith is not one of them. The analyst and celebrated radio host has never had any love for the Jerry Jones-owned team. Apart from some rare moments of sympathy for the owner, Smith has always had harsh words for the Dallas-based team. So naturally, Smith has no love for any of the players of the Cowboys, including their controversial QB, Dak Prescott.

While Prescott has had some great highs in his career, his 2022 season wasn’t particularly great. Smith took advantage of this and laughed off the quarterback’s chances in the Super Bowl. He also had some jarring words for the Cowboys prior to the 2023 season.

While every team would like to believe they have the chance to make the playoffs, the reality is quite different. There have been teams that have consistently been underperforming. However, no one would consider the Cowboys to be one of them. Even last postseason, they were right there in the playoffs. They were able to eliminate Tom Brady from what was his last playoff run. Despite this, Smith is convinced that the Cowboys have no chance of bringing home a Lombardi trophy. Even on the show, The First Take, he mockingly answered a question about the Cowboys’ chances.

He was asked if he thought that Prescott and the Cowboys would win the Super Bowl. The analyst just laughed at the question and said, “No. That’s a simple answer to that question.”

Smith firstly commended some of the moves the Cowboys have made in terms of their acquisitions as well as their releases. Furthermore, he stressed that the Cowboys definitely have bolstered their defense. However, he stressed that there exists one weak link in the team.

Who is the weak link of the almighty Cowboys?

Smith clearly didn’t mince his words as he pointed out the main reason the Cowboys won’t win the Super Bowl. He spoke about there being a huge weak link in the team. Without any hesitation, he said, “Dak Prescott’s got a lot to prove. He’s the weak link.” Smith made it clear that the Cowboys’ defense has been solid throughout the last season. He mainly assigned blame to Prescott’s supposed inability to get the ball moving and make plays for the team. Admittedly, the Cowboys’ QB has not had the most stellar season. While he played 12 games in the seasons, he only raked up 2,860 passing yards. Although he did have a decent 23 touchdown passes, he also had a whopping 15 interceptions in 12 games. Interestingly, these are the most number of interceptions he’s had in a season.

While, it’s true that Smith has a huge bias against the Cowboys, even Cowboys nation might have to admit that his exaggerated hate for Prescott might not be so far from the truth. In the vein of that thought, Prescott will have to prove to the Cowboys that he still has it in him. However, it only remains to be seen if Prescott is able to win over his harshest critic through his performance in the 2023 season.
