A tragic news has shaken the world of college football. Eighteen-year-old Jeremiah Collins, a former football star for Male High School, tragically lost his life in an unfortunate road accident. Collins was a three-star recruit for Austin Peay State University, where he was preparing for his freshman season.
Collins met with a fatal accident on Friday night. This accident took place near his school’s campus in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Jeremiah Collins passes away in a tragic car crash
The 18-year-old graduated from Oakland High School in Tennessee, where he completed his senior year. And there, he was a vital part of the team that won their third consecutive Class 6A State Championship last season. And after that, he committed to playing for Austin Peay, where he was gearing up for his debut college season.

According to an article by the New York Post, Jeremiah Collins was driving too fast while exiting Briley Parkway West. He was in his 2004 GMC Canyon pickup truck. In the statement released by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, it states that his vehicle went out of control and left the road. It rolled several times before coming to a stop in a grass area. While he received immediate medical attention at the crash site, he was unfortunately declared dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Jeremiah Collins’s death shocked the University, as they took to social media to mourn the loss of their football freshman.

Austin Peay mourns the loss of Collins
In a press release, the University announced the news of Collins’ passing on Saturday morning. In the statement issued, football HC Scotty Walden said, “We are all devastated and heartbroken by the loss of Jeremiah Collins. Jeremiah was an outstanding young man who brought an incredible attitude and energy every day. We grieve with the Collins family for their tragic loss and lift them up in prayer.” Athletic Director of the University, Gerald Harrison, also released a statement saying, “All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Collins family today.” Collins played defensive back, wide receiver, and returning kicks, according to the University’s website. Austin Peay also stated that it will have no further comments on the matter at this time, as it will help family and friends through the grieving process.
