Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots suffered their second loss of the season against the Super Bowl LIV champions, Kansas City Chiefs, earlier this week. They were forced to play without starting quarterback, Cam Newton, who reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in the build-up to their crucial Week Four clash at the Arrowhead Stadium.
Brian Hoyer started in Newton’s stead with Jarrett Stidham stepping onto the field later on during the game. However, the Patriots succumbed to a 26-10 loss as Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to their fourth-straight win of the season.
There were reports claiming that Cam Newton was eligible to start for the Patriots in Week Five if he continues to show no symptoms. But Head Coach Bill Belichick opined otherwise.
