The preseason opener succumbs the New York Jets in trouble. The franchise might suffer a huge setback if the damage forced their QB1 to stay on the sidelines. Fans attending the Jets vs. Eagles game saw Zach Wilson having an awkward fall and limping off the field. It raises more concerns to the Jets fanbase as they might end up losing their starting signal caller.
Zach Wilson threw an interception, with over four minutes remaining in the first quarter. He rushed to the right on a first-and-ten from New York’s 40-yard line. Wilson fell to the ground stiffly as he attempted to make a turn towards the center of the field to rattle off a Philadelphia Eagles defensive player.

After Wilson went down, a team member initially hoisted him up. He walked with a slight limp. They then took Wilson to the locker room for more assessment. After that, the New York Jets officially listed him as ‘questionable to return’ owing to a knee injury. Wilson did not take part in the game, and Mike White took over at quarterback.

The ‘Dawg’ was looking to make a rebound from his mediocre rookie season. While his statistics were subpar, injuries became a point of concern. Wilson missed four games because of a sprained PCL sustained in a Week 7 loss to the New England Patriots. But this year’s knee injury could be another blow to the franchise.
Jets QB Zach Wilson with a right knee injury – significant concern for ACL damage with non-contact direction change mechanism. Bone bruise would be best case but didn’t look good. If ACL tear would be surgery & 6-9 month recovery, fingers crossed not as bad as it looks #jets pic.twitter.com/8eAS5y3E8D

Given that the game was the preseason opener, it wasn’t unusual for the team to keep him out for the entire game, even if he was fit to play. However, the damage is concerning. Any non-contact injury should cause the team to clutch their exhale. Any damage that requires him to miss games could be even more detrimental.
