It has been more than a year since we last saw Elaine Thompson-Herah run on the track. She has already cemented her legacy as the fastest 100m female sprinter alive and the second fastest 200m runner. But with an impactful Instagram post, the track and field fans seem to be having a pretty different idea. So, are we really going to witness the return of Thompson-Herah?

The talks began sprouting when Thompson-Herah shared a few pictures of herself in a mesmerizing halter-neck dress on Instagram. As usual, she seems to be radiating vacation vibes with a printed tropical bodycon dress. And the caption? It read, “Living proof of a VERY loving God 🩵.” The vibrant look, paired with bold accessories, highlights her effortless style and personality away from the track.

Her problems began when she was competing at the New York City Grand Prix on 9 June 2024. It was a disheartening sight for the fans to watch Thompson-Herah being carried away from the track. Later, the Jamaican star pulled out of the 2024 Paris Olympics because of the same Achilles injury.

Prior to the devastating injury, Elaine Thompson-Herah decided to split from her coach Shanikie Osbourne. Many claim that it was a major setback that put a pause to her impressive run. Now, she trains under the guidance of Rana Reid. Yet, she has remained absent from the 2025 season. Despite the injury and coaching instability, fans seem to believe that she’s all set to make an epic comeback.

Calls mount in favor of Elaine Thompson-Herah’s return

The fans had only one emotion on their minds as they took over the comments section. They want Thompson-Herah’s return. One fan commented, “Come back Elaine!!! 😢 it’s boring without you!” Another fan claimed, “Fastest woman alive 🙌 without you, track is looks empty.” Elaine Thompson-Herah is a sight to behold on the track. Back in August 2021, she managed to cross 100m in just 10.54 seconds. And prior to that, she ran 200m in 21.53 seconds. No wonder fans demanded, “Fastlaine 🔥hoping to see you next season on the track.”

But the fans were also conscious of one aspect of the Jamaican legend’s return. She wouldn’t be the same as she had been before the injury. Yet, the fans decided to put their faith in her. One fan commented, “Get better soon, we need you back!!!!! But ik you be back better.” The concern was real. After all, Achilles’ injury often lowers the capability in one’s legs. And overcoming that requires a lot more rehabilitation than just intense training. A fan extended their concerns and wrote, “How’s ETH doing? Hope all is well. Praying you are healing and recovering well from any injury concerns and anything else that stands in your way back to the track. We miss you.”
