‘Why Not?’ – Jon Rahm Drawing Inspiration From Phil Mickelson Ahead of the British Open

The Scottish Open always serves as a preparatory event for The British Open. The latter is also known as the Open Championship, and only a very few players have won the Scottish Open and then the subsequent British Open in the same year. Phil Mickelson is one of them and current World No. 1 Jon Rahm is aiming to follow in lefty’s footsteps.
Competing in links golf courses can be very hard. But professional golfers make it look easy, and Phil Mickelson achieved massive success in 2013. He won the Scottish Open eight years ago and went on to win the subsequent British Open at the Muirfield Golf Links.
Not many players have been able to accomplish what Mickelson did eight years ago. Such is the highly competitive nature of the sport, but Jon Rahm has a solid chance of registering his name in the history books. He is hungry to win the ongoing Scottish Open and which would obviously improve his chances of winning The Open Championship 2021.

Jon Rahm is looking to emulate Phil Mickelson
Jon Rahm is currently competing at The Renaissance Club and is in contention to win Scottish Open 2021. He’s played brilliantly through three rounds and sits just one stroke behind the leaders heading into the fourth.
“Hey, not too long ago Phil won both of them, why not?” Rahm mentioned when asked about his chances of winning the Scottish Open and British Open back-to-back. If Rahm achieves this, it would be three straight victories for the Spaniard, taking the U.S. Open triumph into account.

Ever since Rahm was denied the win at Memorial, he’s played differently. The Spaniard’s game has drastically improved and his putting has been flawless. He enters every tournament to win and laughed at the idea of being satisfied with a Top 10 finish.
“Hey, I compete to win. If I didn’t want to win, I wouldn’t be here. Is it like we have a limited amount of wins (laughing)? You can win as many as you want,” Rahm mentioned.
Jon Rahm is making his Scottish Open debut, but he does not seem to be playing under any kind of nerves. 66, 65,and 69. These were his numbers in the first, second, and third rounds respectively.
