Golf is a sport that can never be mastered by anyone. Not even the greatest players can do it. One small mistake can cost you an entire tournament. Such is the intricacy of the sport, and Bryson DeChambeau recently felt the wrath of it at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Bryson DeChambeau came into the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic as the defending champion. A lot was expected from him, but the eight-time PGA Tour winner did not even make the 36-hole cut at the Detroit Golf Club.
DeChambeau opened with an even-par 72 in Round 1 and followed it up with a 1-under 71 in the subsequent round. However, that wasn’t enough to get him into the weekend as the cut-line was drawn at -3.

“I hate golf,” DeChambeau was heard lamenting on the fifth hole, as per ‘The Detriot News.’ He made this statement after driving his tee shot wide into the bunked on the par-3 fifth in Round 2. Clearly, the emotions had got the better of him at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Bryson Dechambeau split with his long-time caddie the night before the tournament
If you were wondering why Bryson DeChambeau was not at his best, this is the reason why: He split with Tim Tucker, his caddie of five years, right before the start of the 2021 Rocket Mortage Classic.
“They had a good run, and they mutually agreed yesterday afternoon to go their separate ways,” DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff, told Golf Channel on Thursday. “Everything runs its course. Tim was getting tired and Bryson was getting tired. In any relationship, they run their course, and that’s what happened here.”

This can be attributed as the primary reason for DeChambeau’s failure at Rocket Mortgage Classic. It got mixed up in his mind, and the 27-year-old also declined to speak with the media for two straight days.
On top of all this, DeChambeau even got trolled by Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson after splitting with his caddie. Things are certainly not going on the right road for the 2020 U.S. Open champion at the moment.
