While many nations experiment with their opening ceremony uniforms, USA doesn’t change much. With a more classy look, the flag bearers will be wearing a white denim jacket with the US Olympics logo at the back, whereas the other athletes will be wearing a navy blue blazer, striped shirt, and printed scarf. The Ralph Lauren logo is on the left whereas the US Olympics logo on the right.

?We had a conversation with the Olympic Committee several years ago. And they made it clear that they wanted our athletes to dress up and be ambassadors, but since Japan is one of the technology centers of the world, [they asked] ?What kind of fun surprises can we bring?’? David Lauren, brand executive said.
Cool the body, not the room. That’s the idea behind a personal air conditioning system Ralph Lauren built into the jackets to be worn by Team USA’s flag bearers during the Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo. https://t.co/Uz0vsBMTa0

What is the special technology in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 opening ceremony jackets?
Now Tokyo Olympics 2020 will be the hottest Olympics ever. Temperatures are expected to rise above 95 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity levels constantly over 75 percent. Hence Ralph Lauren has used technology to keep the athletes cooler. ‘Ralph Lauren Cooling’ is a device at the back of the jackets that will help athletes in the Japanese heat. It is a self-regulating temperature cooling device that senses the skin temperature. If the skin temperature rises then the device will give a shot of cool air at the lower neck area.
?It?s the one spot on your body where your brain senses it and it begins to cool your body. It helps you sweat less and your body will feel more like it?s 70 to 75 degrees even if it?s 90 degrees. The cooling jacket was really to tell a bigger story about American ingenuity and leadership,” he said.

This device will only be fitted in the jackets of the flag bearers. The other athletes can have the device working on their blazers after the Olympic Games ends. All the uniforms are made in the US and are made of sustainable items.
