Things have not been easy for Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East. The Saudi league teams do not always shower praises on Al Nassr and its captain. Amid the hard battle for the league title against Al Hilal, Ronaldo is having to face the old devil of ‘rivalry’ with Lionel Messi even after splitting away from Europe. Nevertheless, on this occasion, the Portuguese captain and his teammates are being blamed for angering the Al Ahli fans last weekend.

Ronaldo has needed to battle physically on the field and mentally against a few opposition fanbases. After the havoc in the last league fixture against the 3rd ranked side, the Al Ahli President claimed that Al Nassr’s players incited the fans. The President was recently reported saying, “The Al Nassr players deliberately provoked Al-Ahly fans, and we will not give up any right to the club and we will defend it in all fields,” reasoning that they had the right to react.

It started when Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 42nd minute. The goal was disallowed due to an offside, however the Al Ahli fans were already charged up. Later CR7 went on to score from the penalty spot and the Al Nassr players celebrated in front of the home fans inviting their fury.

Consequently, the fans were seen getting aggressive. They started throwing balloons at the players which frustrated CR7 who reacted with his arms raised to show dissent before moving away. A bottle had also struck Otavio on the head before he could escape. Al Nassr players were later seen doing tricks with the bottles thrown after the goal. The fans also started chanting Messi’s name trying to annoy the Al Nassr captain who’s having a bittersweet season.

Meanwhile, Portugal had enough firepower to take down Sweden 5-2 in their captain’s absence. The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner will be back for the game against Slovenia which is the last international game before they head to the Euro warm-ups. Ronaldo, to acquire his 3rd title with Portugal will look to be in the best shape mentally and physically. But in terms of the club competitions, the number of titles he can clinch remains to be seen.
