It’s been more than 5 years since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid, but the love for the star is still abundant in Spain. Over the course of nine years, he won four UEFA Champions League titles and four Ballon d’Ors, forming one of the greatest sporting rivalries against Lionel Messi. And it looks like the player, despite choosing to leave Europe, has a very special place in La Liga, according to its president, Javier Tebas.

Ronaldo’s influence in sports has been nothing short of spectacular. From performing on the field at the age of 39 to maintaining fitness off the field, the Portuguese captain has had a huge impact on fans around the world. And the same charisma is what keeps the door open for him in La Liga.

Although the fans would love to get a glimpse of him playing soccer in Spain, the La Liga president would love to see him back as a representative of the league. Speaking to A Bola in an interview, Tebas said, “How not? It would be an honor to have him as an ambassador. I think he and Messi have been the most important players in the history of Spanish soccer.” when asked if he would invite him after retirement.

Meanwhile, the goalscoring machine is in no mood to stop or retire. Ronaldo hinted that he would continue playing and is not finished yet. The player scored 54 goals in 2023, but Tebas anyway did not mean it to be an immediate thought. On the other side, the Al Nassr captain has shown what he can do after he enters the league.

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken the Saudi Pro League by storm. After signing a deal with Al Nassr for $200 million, the player initiated a multitude of European signings for the league. Players like Neymar, then Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema, and treble winner Riyadh Mahrez were a few of the names to arrive in the Middle East. Hence, it would not be a bad idea for Tebas to consider the highest goal scorer in the world to be his ambassador.

Apart from on-field accolades, Ronaldo is also the most followed athlete on social media, and his reach is very wide in terms of audience. Lionel Messi and himself are the highest scorers in the league and have won eight UEFA Champions Leagues for their clubs. And with the legacy he built, there is always a way for Ronaldo to be back in Spain.
