USWNT veteran Alex Morgan‘s passion is not just confined to a soccer field. Outside of the sport, she has been putting her passion to work for noble causes. An active spokesperson for women’s rights and equal pay, Morgan has been donning the good Samaritan’s hat lately. She launched the Alex Morgan Foundation in March, this year, to empower girls and women with opportunities in their sporting careers and life. Per a 2023 impact report, the foundation has distributed $188,500 in grants this year. Well, that is only one of many accomplishments of Alex Morgan’s charity.

The Alex Morgan Foundation was launched on March 21, 2023. In the months that followed, the foundation has pioneered quite a few initiatives and programs for girls and women, on and off the field. Here is how the first year panned out for the USWNT icon’s foundation.

Alex Morgan’s charity has the development of girl’s soccer as one of its agendas. The foundation contributed soccer gears to three grassroots programs this year. It hosted 53 girls at the ‘Let’s Go South Bay!’ soccer empowerment camp. Meanwhile, 120 girls were hosted by Morgan and Co. at the Nike FC soccer clinic. In addition to this, the Alex Morgan Foundation hosted 13 girl’s soccer teams during San Diego Wave’s home matches, under the Homebreak Team initiative. Ace athletes from these teams were nominated for the Leader of the Year Award. Four of them won the prize this year.

Morgan’s noble contributions are not confined to soccer alone. Her foundation has supported eight community initiatives since its inception. Furthermore, in a move to support motherhood, the organization gifted 45 kits of essentials to new mothers on this year’s Mother’s Day. On that very day, the World champion donated $20,000 to the Casa Familiar’s Promotora Program to support mothers in San Ysidro. Apart from all this, the foundation has pioneered a few other noble initiatives as well.

Alex Morgan’s first major initiative after the foundation launch was on this year’s Mother’s Day. Later in October, Morgan and Co. partnered with Rady’s Children’s Hospital to help support children’s comprehensive care. After facilitating the aforementioned ‘Let’s Go South Bay,’ and Nike FC Soccer Clinic initiatives, they held a Celebration of Confidence event. It highlighted the accomplishments of the Alex Morgan Foundation in the seven months since its founding.

An advocate of equal rights for women athletes, Alex Morgan has partnered with the Girl Effect and launched the ‘In the Field’ initiative to amplify the voices of young females.
