Jacinta de Oromí recently went on a vacation to Egypt. The Buenos Aires-based internet figure took to Instagram to share a video among her 92.2K followers. Posted with the caption, “He told us $250 and the queen got it for $100,” the video features her mother’s adept negotiating skills. She makes a $250 purchase at a nearby craft store and successfully bargains for a sizable discount. Instead of paying the $150, she gave $100 and a simple Argentine cereal bar as currency under the guise that Messi used to eat it during his childhood. The clip starts with Jacinta’s mother saying, “Messi ate this bar as a boy and then he was champion. So 100 dollars and the bar. And a smile.”

Although the Egyptian merchant responded with “Viva Messi,” he still wanted the lady to pay $40. To that, the woman takes out a toothbrush from her purse and jokingly says, “This is Messi’s toothbrush. It is the famous toothbrush.” As the shop owner didn’t agree, the influencer claimed that they didn’t have any money left. When the merchant asked Jacinta’s mom to pay by card, she refused by saying, “No, I don’t use a card. My country has a lot of taxes. I’m Argentine.” With no choice left, the shopkeeper agreed to take $100 and a cereal bar. But for which item was the negotiation being conducted?
