Doubts and eyebrows were raised when Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Al Nassr. But the cloud of suspicion vanished after other European stars also followed in his footsteps and signed for the domestic giants of Saudi Arabia. The Portuguese superstar has been a convincing factor for many other big arrivals that are currently gracing the Roshn Saudi League. Yet, amidst his persuasive powers, Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t sway one of his ex-teammates to follow his $500 million path to Al Nassr.

Aside from Ronaldo, names like Neymar, Benzema, Kante, and Firmino are enough to make any league attract top-quality players. Money is another factor, as CR7 makes $200 million a year. Yet, all this came short of convincing this star.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been trying to bring his former Manchester United teammate, David De Gea to Riyadh. The Spaniard is currently without a club after he left Old Trafford at the conclusion of his contract in June. Despite initial agreement on new terms, the Red Devils ultimately rescinded their initial offer.

While the interest ignited from the Saudi Pro League and Qatar Stars League, Ronaldo took it as an opportunity to get another United teammate, like Alex Telles. However, De Gea wasn’t convinced with the idea of moving to the Middle East. As per 90MIN, the goalkeeper doesn’t want to leave Europe and has even made his intentions clear to the interested parties from the Gulf.

Apparently, De Gea is eager to play Champions League football. In fact, he is even prepared to bide his time until the January transfer window to make a decision regarding his future. However, if he does not receive any suitable offer, sources reveal that he is open to contemplating retirement. Additionally, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid had expressed interest in securing a deal with the goalkeeper at one point, although both clubs eventually opted against it.

As of now, the transfer window has closed everywhere and De Gea is without the club. It remains to be seen where the 33-year-old pens a new deal. If he fails to do so, retirement might be his last option. Speaking of retirement, sources have claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to end his career at Al Nassr.
