Cristiano Ronaldo is currently dominating the soccer headlines. The player has again come to attention following a poor 2-0 loss. But this wasn’t the only part that got him into the news. Aside from turning into a WWE wrestler, the striker got into a controversial situation.

The 39-year-old recently was criticized for his gesture. This came after the player was heading down to the tunnel, while fans were chanting Messi’s name, and he was seen touching his crotch in front of fans. The incident was captured by a stadium fan and has taken to the internet into a frenzy, so much so that netizens urged the player to get expelled from the country. Be as it may, his team recently extended support regarding his controversy.

Following the incident, fans in Arabia are outraged by Ronaldo’s action. Touching private areas in public is considered a great offense by the people in the country. Many have even started an online trend to force out the Portuguese superstar from the country, under the name of “Expelling the fan’s abuser”.

However, his team, Al Nassr, has come in support of their star player. The club released a statement regarding the incident, explaining that Ronaldo actually suffered a sensitive injury.

The club said, “Ronaldo suffers from an injury. His challenge with Gustavo Cuellar, the Al-Hilal player, started with a blow in a very sensitive area. This is confirmed information. As for the fans’ explanations, they are free to think whatever they want.”

Al Nassr traveled to the King Fahad stadium to fight for three points. Unfortunately, the Riyadh side lost the encounter 2-0. Following the poor loss, Ronaldo was, as usual, heading back to the tunnel. Hence, while returning, the player was getting jeered by the fans and at that moment, the CR7 also heard the fans chant Messi’s name.

Let’s see how fans will respond to the club’s statement. And that may have cleared the picture a lot. But it definitely doesn’t hide the bigger picture of Al Nassr’s domestic problems.

Domestic issues continue

Just after suffering a goalless draw against Al Feiha, the team’s domestic troubles continued as they endured a shameful loss. They are currently going through a bit of turmoil following their upsetting performances.

Their wounds are going deeper after they recently parted ways with their manager, Rudi Garcia. The replacement is already there, but it is yet to give concrete results. The results will affect their silverware pursuit in a great manner as their arch-rivals, Al Ittihad may go six points clear of them.

Either way, Ronaldo and co. will be looking to make an emphatic comeback in the league, against Al Raed on April 29. Before that, they’ll be playing a King Cup of Champions against Al Wehda. Yet the loss has somehow disrupted their silverware charge. Nevertheless, do you think Al Nassr will be able to turn things around? Let us know in the comments.
