After a blip in form, Al Nassr came back to winning ways. Just yesterday, the club progressed to the next stage of the King Cup of Champions by clinching a 2-5 win against Al Shabab. Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. also qualified for the AFC Champions League RO16 earlier. Amid domestic success, one of their key players has given a huge update on his future, claiming the pressure he had in the previous matches has ‘gone down’.

Just last week, after Al Nassr went through a bumpy ride, this player stirred up his future by posting a cryptic message. But now, it seems, he is ready to give his all and attain glory.

Following a stint of poor performances, Seko Fofana expressed his sadness by claiming that he is ‘unhappy’ at Al Nassr. This signaled that he wanted to leave the Knights of Najd. However, that road seems to have closed, as the 28-year-old recently gave a positive update. Following Al Nassr’s win against Al Shabab in the King Cup, he said, “We will rest now and come back stronger. Today we applied what we worked on in training.” Aside from this, the player subtly revealed the reason behind his second thoughts about continuing at the Riyadh side. “I am in good shape and the pressure I had in many matches has gone down, I am happy to serve Al Nassr,” he concluded.

It seems Fofana is thrilled that his side is back to their winning routine. Earlier, there were rumors of Sevilla being interested in the 28-year-old midfielder. Additionally, Luis Castro was also not happy with his performance and was reportedly looking for a new midfielder in the winter transfer window. Perhaps now all parties must be happy, as Fofana even got his name on the scoresheet against Al Shabab. Meanwhile, after the match, Castro insists there’s hope that Al Nassr can win more silverware this season itself.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
