A few hours ago, former Barcelona star Gerard Pique ignited a classic rivalry discussion between the Catalan club and their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, by taking a dig over their last year’s Champions League triumph. He said, “The last Champions they won was a miracle, because they were not superior in any qualifier or in the final, and it will never be remembered”, as compiled by RAC1.

The former defender also claimed that when Barcelona wins, they will be remembered forever, and Real Madrid’s last-year title was a miracle as the club was inferior in each round. Certainly, these bold claims didn’t settle well among Madrid’s base, especially Carlo Ancelotti, who launched a fiery response to the Spaniard.

While speaking in a press conference after his side’s group stage win over Braga, he was asked about his views on Pique. Ancelotti said, “Pique’s words? He lives in his own world. No one will ever forget our 14th Champions League title. We will remember it for all our lives.” The Italian boss further continued by hailing the club’s history. “Champions League is a special competition for us. Real Madrid have built its history on this competition,” he added.

Indeed, this is quite a strong comeback from the Italian manager. Certainly, the Madrid fans must be happy with their boss’ war of words over the outspoken Pique. Interestingly, the defender again made a scary claim regarding La Liga’s current leader, Girona.
