David Beckham might have to alter his transfer plans. The rumors surrounding Real Madrid star Luka Modric joining Inter Miami have persisted all summer. However, as per the latest reports, the Croatian doesn’t seem to favor an MLS move. It appears that the icon is in talks to join SPL clubs Al Ahli and Al Ittihad. Interestingly, Al Ittihad is also the club of former teammate Karim Benzema. Is that a factor that is influencing the legendary midfielder’s decision?

Recently, Luka Modric played his 500th game for Los Blancos, a feat achieved by only 14 players before. Without a doubt, his success at Real Madrid is a testament to his dedication and undying commitment to the beautiful game. However, it looks like the journey in Spain is coming to an end for the Croatian.

Luka Modric has enjoyed a fruitful 10 years at the Santiago Bernabeu with his contract expiring in June. Until now, there haven’t been any discussions on a renewal. As per the latest news, Al Ahli and Al Ittihad are the front runners for Modric’s signature. It looks like Al Ittihad may have a slight edge due to the presence of ex-teammate Karim Benzema. The two were teammates for years winning tons of accolades together and are close friends too.

Previously, Karim Benzema has also expressed how happy he is to be in the Saudi Club. Besides praising the sporting project, the veteran striker revealed his surprise at the affection and love he received.

Ever since the arrival of Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric has seen a considerable reduction in minutes. In 11 La Liga appearances, the Croatian has played just 435 minutes of soccer, an equivalent of less than 6 games. After being benched for 3 consecutive games, the playmaker opened up on his situation. He told the Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, “Nobody is happy when they are out of the game. I didn’t stay to stay, but I want to play and enjoy football and Madrid.” It is evident why Modric wants to leave Los Blancos. With Modric appearing to move to the SPL, Inter Miami and David Beckham might be disappointed, but this could be a blessing in disguise for them.

Modric’s snub-perhaps a decision to benefit David Beckham and his team

Rumors of Modric joining Inter Miami started when the Croatian and David Beckham were spotted on vacation together. Later reports emerged stating that Lionel Messi wanted him in the team. This led to immense speculation regarding Modric’s arrival at Inter Miami but it seems that the move will not materialize. Yet there is a strong case that Inter Miami will benefit from this transfer not happening.

Make no mistake about it, Luka Modric is the epitome of class. However, at 39 years of age, he is not the man to build the team around. Inter Miami already has one aging midfield player in Sergio Busquets. The addition of Modric would have put immense demands on 18-year-old midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi, thereby impacting his game. Moreover, Busquets is also an excellent controller and can bring many of Modric’s strengths to the team.

With the Croatian’s time at Real Madrid coming to an end, where would you think he would choose to go next?
