The FIFA World Cup has just 3 more matches left, and then the world will get to know who is the ultimate winner. It began almost a month ago and today we have our first finalist. One of the top two. The first semi-final was between Croatia and Argentina. A match between two legendary teams and two legends looking to immortalize their career in their last rodeo. Luka Modric and Lionel Messi are arguably two of the best soccer players in the world.
While many legends like Lewandowski, Ronaldo, and Neymar were knocked out in the previous rounds, this match could have been the final because both teams were performing so well. However, there is always a winner. Argentina made its way to the finals, leaving Croatian hearts broken.

Luka Modric has harsh words for the ref.
Croatia was putting up a resilient display until the referee awarded Argentina a penalty which Messi duly converted in the 34th minute. Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez cashed in on a chance to counter and the latter scored in the 39th minute, giving them a 2-0 lead going into the half.

Talking about the penalty awarded, Modric said, “We were doing just fine until the penalty, which for me it shouldn’t have been awarded. I don’t usually talk about referees, but today it’s impossible not to do so. He’s one of the worst I know and I’m not talking only about today, because I had him before and I never had a good memory of him. He’s a disaster.”

Although Modric congratulated the winning team and ensured that he didn’t want to discredit the win. He said, “Even so, I want to congratulate Argentina. I don’t want to take credit away from them. They deserve to be in the final. But that first penalty destroyed us.”
