After a gao of a few days, MLS action will resume for Lionel Messi as Inter Miami will face a star-studded LAFC. In the prelude to the epic Hollywood clash, comparisons have already begun. With just hours remaining before these two sides clash under the bright lights, one LAFC star has drawn an astonishing parallel, likening Messi to a four-time Oscar-winning character brought to life by none other than the legendary Steven Spielberg.

So far, Messi has only played two MLS games and even managed to score a goal on his debut. The 7x Ballon d’Or winner would be looking to improve on his form in the upcoming games, as Miami charges for Playoff positions.

From attracting celebrities to the stands to doing Marvel-themed celebrations, the Hollywood fever seems to have taken to Messi. Interestingly, now the World Cup winner is being compared to another fascinating Hollywood movie character, E.T. from Extra-Terrestrial, which was directed by Steven Spielberg. At the 55th Academy Awards, the motion picture raked in 9 awards in total, with Best Picture and Best Director in the mix.

This parallel was drawn by LAFC star defender Giorgio Chiellini, who also subtly praised the former Barcelona man. During the press conference, he said, “[Lionel Messi] is like a Extra-Terrestrial. Do you know what I mean? Yes Extra Terrestrial.” Chiellini touts Messi as an ‘extra-terrestrial’, likening him to the lovable ET from the Speilberg film from 1982.

Chiellini’s words serve as a testament to Messi’s influence on the soccer pitch. The $1,080,000 rated defender had previously expressed his thoughts on two of the biggest soccer icons saying, “How do you mark Cristiano Ronaldo? You try not to leave him alone, don’t let him shoot on his right foot. And Lionel Messi? Just make the sign of the cross.” Certainly, it wouldn’t be a walk in the park for Chiellini, who would need to pull up his socks.

As for the clash, either side will be looking for a win and get the crucial three points. Meanwhile, Magic Johnson’s $1 billion side has reached a new milestone, thanks to Messi.

According to TickPick, the forthcoming Sunday match featuring Messi, pitting Inter Miami against LAFC, boasts the most expensive ticket prices ever seen in the history of Major League Soccer games. While there have been previous instances of ticket prices surging to $20,000, CNN’s report suggests that this figure has likely been surpassed. Indeed, it marks a significant milestone in ticket pricing for the event.

This also marks Messi’s inaugural visit to Los Angeles. With La Pulga’s increasing notoriety in the country, fans are evidently willing to pay a premium. Let’s hope the cost of the tickets is justified for the fans, as many would be hoping for a ‘Magisterial Messi’ show.
