Soccer circles still debate if Lionel Messi deserved the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s The Best award over the treble-winning Erling Haaland. Now, Cristiano Ronaldo has given his verdict on the game’s hottest debate. Perhaps, CR7 might not be disappointed with his generational rival winning every other award. But he thinks FIFA and France Football are losing their reputation lately. Even while making such strong claims, CR7 diplomatically said all the front runners, Messi, Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe deserved to compete for the prize.

He emphasized he couldn’t care less about these awards. “I simply no longer believe in these awards and not because I won the Globe Soccer Awards. But this is a fact, and the numbers exist and the numbers do not deceive. They cannot take this award from me (world top scorer) because it is real, and that makes me happier because the numbers prove the facts,” said Cristiano Ronaldo, while speaking to the Record. CR7 revealed his obsession with numbers while accepting the Maradona Award in Dubai. He took immense pride in beating ‘young animals‘ like Haaland at the age of 38!
