Cristiano Ronaldo has recently stirred the pot in the soccer world by opining that the Saudi League is better than Ligue 1. The statement from the Al Nassr star has come amid rumors of several more European stars showing interest in the Saudi League. However, a Premier League player has proclaimed that he has no interest in the cash-rich league and would rather return to the Czech League.

In the last several seasons, after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, the option of going to the Saudi League has opened. The European stars who have joined the cash-rich league are earning obscene amounts of wages. However, as far as West Ham United star Thomas Soucek is concerned, he is not interested in taking that path. In an interview with Sports CZ, he said, “Last summer I got an important proposal from Saudi but I rejected it. I would rather return to the Czech league! Saudi Arabia, China, or the USA is not for me. I am enjoying my time here at West Ham”.

The Hammers midfielder this season has started 20 out of the 21 games and has looked brilliant. Despite, playing the role more as a defensive midfielder, his height has helped him score goals this season in the Premier League. Hence, the interest of the Saudi clubs is not a surprise. But, considering his comments. it looks like the 28-year-old midfielder will partner up with Kalvin Philips for the rest of the season.

Interested Saudi clubs will also likely move on to other transfer targets as the January window remains open. As far as Cristiano Ronaldo is concerned, he continues to have high hopes for the cash-rich league.

The Al Nassr star is determined to play his part to make the league successful

When the five-time Ballon d’Or winner made the move to the Knights of Najd, several fans and experts criticized. However, with his goals from the first game, he shut down the criticism. Other than his goals, he has been quite vocal about his support for the Saudi League. In the recent Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, he praised the league.

The 38-year-old also pointed out that the future and the world is changing. Hence, he feels that growing the sport of soccer in a country like Saudi Arabia is part of that change.
