The FIFA Qatar World Cup is just around the corner. The 32 of the best teams around the world will be competing for the biggest prize in soccer. Qatar and Ecuador will face each other in the opening game of the competition. The USMNT has sent a young team to Qatar as they plan to build for the future. They missed out on the World Cup last time around after losing to Trinidad & Tobago in the qualifiers. But they are motivated to make a mark this time around before hosting the mega-event in 2026.

With the World Cup in just a few days, former soccer legend Jamie Carragher has shared his prediction for the event. He spoke highly of the USMNT and has put them above the Welsh side in Group B.

Jamie Carragher recently shared his predictions for the World Cup and it is every soccer fan’s dream prediction; a World Cup final between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Carragher, however, feels that Argentina will end up winning the competition.

Carragher also predicted that England would crash out of the quarter-finals in the competition. However, according to him, Gareth Bale’s Wales will not be able to make it out of the group. The former Liverpool legend claimed that the USMNT will be able to get the better of the Welsh side.

Jamie Carragher says USMNT will trump Wales in the FIFA World Cup

English legend Jamie Carragher recently appeared in a Sky Sports Football show alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, and Karen Carney. Carragher heaped praise on the Welsh duo of Bale and Ramsey but predicted they to crash out of the group stages itself.

“I just think of the two special players they’ve had in the last couple of tournaments in [Gareth] Bale and [Aaron] Ramsay,” Carragher said. “Obviously getting a little bit older. Maybe the last time we see them in a well. Both have done fantastically well. I think Gareth Bale, what he’s done and when he finishes his career, go down as one of the greatest British players of all time. You know, Champions League, Player of the Year two or three times I think in England. What he’s done for Wales, taking him to tournaments.”

Carragher also praised the USMNT and said that they would be ‘too much’ for the Welsh side.

“But I just think of the actual energy and I just keep thinking of the American team. The young players know the energy, the intensity they will play at. I just think it’s too much for Wales,” he added.

USMNT certainly has a star-studded roster, but Wales will be motivated to play the World Cup after a 64-year break. It’ll be tough for all the sides in the group as many have rated them as the ‘group of death’.

Is Group B the ‘group of death’ in the world cup?

Group B features four top teams in the upcoming World Cup. USMNT, England, Wales, and Iran will face each other once in the group, but only two teams can qualify for the knockout stages. All four teams are ranked top 20 in the latest FIFA rankings ahead of the mega-event.
