As the curtains were lifted in the year 2024, Kevin De Bruyne made a return from the ashes. After staying out of action since the beginning of the season, the Belgian international finally gave Manchester City the boost they were hoping for. While it was the injury that kept him sidelined, De Bruyne proclaims the domestic schedule as the major issue, pointing out that he and his colleagues ‘have to play every three days‘.

Although multiple club tournaments are a treat for the eyes of soccer fans, they, unfortunately, pose challenges for players. According to Kevin De Bruyne, every soccer player has to navigate through a multitude of challenges. Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, he said, “I think I’m better prepared [after injury]. The problem is our schedule. We live from match to match, have to play every three days. We always have to recover from those efforts, we don’t have time to train. Never time to really strengthen your body properly.”

Kevin De Bruyne believes that his absence from the action has had a positive influence, as he didn’t participate in the typical ‘game after game’ situation. The 32-year-old revealed that his off-pitch time helped him become ‘better and stronger‘ for the remainder of the season. “After about ten years at this pace, I might have needed that. To get everything back on track. Mentally it has just become calm. Having no stress for a few months makes a difference,” he concluded. Amid welcoming him back, one person was much more delighted than the entire fanbase!

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
