The new season of the NWSL has already begun, as it kicked off in style. So far, there have been some amazing results as all the teams push for glory. Among the contenders are the San Diego Waves, led by USWNT star Alex Morgan. They are quite focused this year on achieving significant success.

In fact, they recently rallied for an emphatic win against Angel City. Casey Stone’s side clinched a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Serena Williams’ franchise. However, just hours after enduring the loss, Angel City’s defender pointed fingers at Waves skipper Morgan.

It was a bitter loss for the ACFC, who endured a poor loss against the away side. However, just after the match ended, the home side’s defender, Paige Nielsen, called out Wave’s striker Morgan for allegedly being involved in a pre-goal collision. After Sunday’s match, Nielsen went on Twitter to call out Morgan for a collision between the two players.

She was not satisfied with the incident, as no foul was called on the play by the referee. She wrote, “Alex Morgan knew what she was doing… so bad…” Nielsen wasn’t shy enough to hold herself back from slamming the USWNT star. However, the tweet has been deleted by the defender.

The collision came just before they conceded the first goal of the game as Sofia Jakobsson broke the deadlock in the 70th minute. Just after five minutes, Makenzy Doniak scored the second goal and sealed the win for San Diego, thanks to an assist from Morgan.

Nothing has been said after that; nevertheless, it was an important win for the Waves, who continue pushing themselves for the title.
