Kylian Mbappe Signing Deemed ‘Too Late’ for Real Madrid as LOTR Star Blasts Florentino Perez’s ‘Ego’

Kylian Mbappe‘s potential move to Real Madrid is growing closer with every passing day. The Frenchman’s contract with PSG expires this summer, making him a free agent. With the player free to negotiate a new deal with any club in the world without PSG‘s stamp of approval, Real Madrid has emerged as the top destination for the World Cup winner.
While most Los Blancos fans are pleased with the outcome, a section of fans believe the transfer should’ve happened earlier. Lord of the Rings actor Viggo Mortensen has been an avid Real Madrid supporter. The actor has been spotted cheering for the team on multiple occasions and hasn’t shied away from making his opinion known.
Mortensen spoke on Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid earlier this week, bashing President Florentino Perez for the potential transfer. The actor who played Aragorn in LOTR believes that Real Madrid signing Mbappe is “just for the ego of President Florentino.” He believes that with players like Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo, signing Mbappe is “not necessary,” and that Los Blancos “have what it takes.” Believing they should’ve signed him years before, he claimed, “It’s too late now.”

However, it is a bold claim from Mortenson, undermining the value Kylian Mbappe would bring to Perez’s project. On the contrary, while remaining tight-lipped about the Mbappe transfer saga, the Real Madrid boss has been vocal about his desire to field the next generation of Galacticos and could be very well on the path of doing so.
How can Real Madrid line up with Kylian Mbappe?
While real Madrid fans would love to see the Frenchman play a central role, the chances seem very low. The player has made it clear time and again that he prefers operating from the flanks and could slot into Rodrygo’s position at the Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos are still in the market for a proper number nine. However, the team could go for one of their existing players up top with Vinicius and Mbappe on the wings.

Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham has been pulling the strings from the midfield with 20 goals and 9 assists in 31 appearances. The 20-year-old, at times, has even operated as a second striker/false nine and could continue to do so following the French star’s arrival. What are your thoughts on Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid?
