Inter Miami’s ambitious vision for the upcoming season could hit a few snags. While the star power of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez promises fireworks, concerns linger about the team’s attacking prowess. According to the latest developments, the pursuit of Argentine midfielder Agustin Palavecino appears to have taken a roadblock, leaving midfield with a void. The 27-year-old defender is reportedly being eyed as a makeshift solution for the injured Facundo Farias.

Notably, David Beckham’s club is yet to disturb the net this new year, with both of their matches ending fruitlessly. And as the team heads on one of their most promising journeys, certain blows to the squad could impact their title aspiration.

The beginning of 2024 could not get any worse for the Herons. It started with an ACL injury to midfielder Farias against El Salvador, and the club is now on the verge of getting a second rejection. According to journalist Gaston Edul, River Plate and Inter Miami have suspended talks for Agustín Palavecino’s loan deal. Only until yesterday did the deal look like it was sealed; however, both clubs have a strong point of disagreement.

The reporter revealed that the Argentine club expects Tata Martino’s team to include a buy option after his potential loan deal expires. However, Lionel Messi and his team look to accommodate him until Farias is back. Known for his vision and technical strength, the player has attracted Inter Miami, but their limit of $2.3 million stops them from buying the midfielder.

On the other side, Palavecino has not been a regular part of River Plate’s team, starting in just six of the 27 league games. River Plate, in 2021, had invested $3.5 million to sign the player from Deportivo Cali. Meanwhile, Inter Miami is looking for a way out of the void created by Facundo Farias.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
