After sending shockwaves around the world with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudi Pro League has been very active in this transfer window. They’ve bought several other world-class talents to get a firm grip on soccer fans worldwide. The league, though, is still at a nascent stage. There are a lot more fronts that need to be focused on. La Liga president recently expressed his views on the Saudi League. He stressed that despite having Cristiano Ronaldo and many big names, La Liga had to take steps to make themselves more attractive to the soccer audience.

The Saudi League falls behind in market valuation as well when compared to the top five leagues in the world. The La Liga boss Javier Tebas emphasized that they need to do more work on making their presence felt. He shares what their focus should be on according to him.

Javier Tebas, La Liga President, has been vocal about his thoughts on the Saudi Pro League. He believes the Saudi League is lacking in viewership and hence falls behind in grabbing eyes. Tebas shares what should the League be doing to garner more views.

Javier Tebas said, “Saudi Arabia must work on the level of audio-visual rights in the Saudi League. No one watches the Saudi League in America. No one watches the Saudi League in Africa.”

Tebas further added, “In Spain, the league rights were sold, despite the presence of Benzema & Ronaldo and all these names, for 60 thousand euros ($64,400 million).”

As we know the Saudi League is very new to soccer fans and it’s only recently that they’ve started to build a project around it. The league has spent an incredible amount of money but it’s nowhere as close as to the spending expenditure of some of the league giants.

The Saudi League has spent $1 billion in this transfer window. Although the amount spent is humungous it lacks behind the star power and the craze for the big leagues. The reasons are many but one needs to understand that the league is still new and they are still finding their way. The current market valuation of the Saudi Pro League stands at $1.16 billion, which compared to the amount of the Premier League is ten times less.

The Premier League is the highest in market valuation at $11.39 billion. La Liga is the second biggest in valuation standing at $5.07 billion. Ligue 1 stands at $3.81 billion, Serie A stands at $4.97 billion while Bundesliga is valued at $4.29 billion.
