Ousmane Dembele has received constant criticism after his move to PSG this summer. He has been underwhelming at the start of the season. However, the club’s coaching staff have backed him. Due to this backing, he finally broke his duck with the French club. He scored his first goal in the 5-2 win against AS Monaco. At the end of the game, he said, “My first goal? I’m happy because after the first 4 or 5 Ligue 1 games I played, I wanted to score very quickly and then I told myself not to worry about that and to play good football. After that, I knew it was going to happen. And now I’m happy.”

Dembele will now hope to keep the same form going. He will aim to open his goal-scoring account for the club in the Champions League. They have a home game against injury-burdened Newcastle United. This provides him the best opportunity to score a goal in this season’s elite competition.

The PSG forward’s line has clicked at the right time

In his first season as a manager, Luis Enrique has experimented constantly in the forward line. There are times when 2 forwards lead the line. Whereas, sometimes it is the 4-3-3 formation. This happened due to the changes in personnel this summer. The only existing forward was Kylian Mbappe. Other than that players like Goncalo Ramos, Ousmane Dembele, and Randal Kolo Muani were new signings. Hence, it took time for the forward line to gel properly.

The forward line also got criticized at times. However, it has now started to click well in recent times. They have scored 18 goals in the last 6 matches. This means they are scoring 3 goals every match. In these last 6 matches, they have also lost only one match that is against AC Milan. Hence, the brilliant form of the forwards is making a positive impact on the team.
