We all have our idols, don’t we? Well, it is no different in the soccer world, where budding talents look up to their role models and follow their dreams of breaking into the professional world. Real Madrid-bound Endrick is no exception, as he also shed light on his preferred player in the beautiful game. In a twist that has caught many by surprise, the youthful prodigy chose to overlook the legendary Ronaldinho in favor of another Brazilian icon, Neymar. The confession came during ESPN’s ‘You Have To Answer’ segment, where Endrick was asked to choose between Ronaldinho and Neymar.

Without any hesitation, the Palmeiras forward quickly submitted “Ney” as his answer. Ironically, just days ago, Endrick had surpassed Neymar’s stellar record by winning the league with his current domestic side. Notably, Ronaldinho wasn’t the only Brazilian legend who received who wasn’t favored by Endrick. When asked to choose between Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldo Nazario, the youngster quickly answered “Cristiano.”

Furthermore, Endrick also snubbed Luis Figo for Zinedine Zidane. While these preferences might raise a few eyebrows, it’s necessary to consider the fact that the 2006-born forward must have watched the likes of Neymar and CR7 more than names like R9 or Ronaldinho. Remarkably, the player even decided on the new-age soccer battle between Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland“Well, I think I prefer Mbappe,” he said. His answer isn’t surprising, as he earlier expressed his desire to play with the PSG superstar.

Endrick is expected to sign with Real Madrid at the age of 18, where he will play alongside stars such as Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham. However, the 17-year-old prospect expressed a desire to team up with a player not currently on Madrid’s roster. In an interview, Endrick mentioned, “It will be very good if I can play with Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Mbappe.”

There is no doubt that Kylian Mbappe is a transfer target for Los Blancos. The Parisian star is yet to pen a contract extension. This gives the 24-year-old the liberty to negotiate with any club starting in January, as his contract runs out in the summer. Whatever it may be, time will only tell whether Endrick will fulfill his wish of playing with Kylian Mbappe in Real Madrid.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
