Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are currently the crème de la crème of Inter Miami. Both soccer stars continue to captivate the soccer landscape of the United States with their presence. Although supporters are excited to watch this dynamic pair whenever possible, a word of caution rings through the team’s hallways. With the impending MLS season that offers a ‘lot of games,’ experts have warned Tata Martino and his coaching staff to refrain from exhausting Messi and Suarez.

In the recent installment of the ESPN FC show, Dalen Cuff asked analyst Luis Miguel Echegaray if Inter Miami competing in back-to-back friendlies is ‘going to help them competitively.’ While highlighting that Suarez has garnered a new fanbase in the club, this has become a business for the Herons and no longer remains a club. “There are a lot of games going on, which is great from a marketing perspective. But Tata Martino and his staff have to make sure they don’t overuse Messi [and Suarez],” stated Echegaray.

Speaking for the Uruguayan striker, he said, “This is a man whose knees are not what they were when he was back at Liverpool. This is a man who needs a few days of recovery. With travel and everything, not just preseason, it’s going to be a long enduring marathon of a season.” Echegaray claims that as long as both players are fit, their presence is a ‘massive marketing seller.’ However, if any of them get injured, it would be an enormous problem. The commentator also reminded about the 2024 Copa America, which will see Messi and Suarez miss 6-7 games. 

In conclusion, Echegaray claimed that Inter Miami has a ‘good problem’ and must understand that they’re a business and a soccer club that needs to clinch the historic MLS Cup.

In ESPN’s ‘Futbol Americas,’ Sebastian Salazar argued with Herculez Gomez about putting his money on David Beckham’s soccer franchise to lift the MLS Cup. He said, “To me, they have to be overwhelming cup favorites in 2024. Tell me I’m wrong.” While optimism looks good on behalf of Inter Miami, their rivals aren’t short as well.
