Lionel Messi completed his trophy cabinet when Argentina won the elusive World Cup in Qatar in 2022. But some soccer fans are unimpressed, deeming Argentina’s triumph as unfair. But while fans continue to troll Messi and his team, it looks like La Albiceleste has found an ally in the form of Brazils’ Felipe Melo. The defender has slammed the trolling, believing Argentina deserved to win the Cup.

The World Cup glory was the major achievement that led to La Pulga winning his 8th Ballon d’Or. This led to fans of his opposition players constantly trolling him on social media.

The rivalry between Argentina and Brazil is one of the biggest in soccer. It was also evident in the high-octane World Cup qualifier match between them in Brazil. However, putting the rivalry aside, Brazilian defender Felipe Melo has come in defense of Argentina’s World Cup win amid constant trolling. The Fluminese defender said, “Argentina was a fair winner in the World Cup. People talk too much. I believe that if they don’t lose the first game, they won’t win the World Cup. It is because it had been a long time since they had lost and I think they arrived a bit believing themselves to be the best. When they lost the first game, they came down from the clouds, a little more humble and with their little feet on the ground. That was what made Argentina champion.”

This statement also shows that several soccer fans noticed the comeback of La Albiceleste after their loss against Saudi Arabia. There was never a match after that where it looked like they won the game because of luck. Lionel Messi also delighted the Argentinians with brilliant performances. His displays in the semi-final against the Netherlands and finals against France will never be forgotten.
