Due to the choices, rumors of rivalry on and off the field start. It looks like Liverpool’s star defender Virgil van Dijk has continued the decision to make some surprising choices. In an interview, with FIFA Pro, he selected Lionel Messi and Brazilian legend Ronaldo ahead of his club teammate Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The selection of the Argentinian forward over Salah is making the most noise. It looks like Messi’s performance in the semi-final against his national team Netherlands chose him ultimately. In the interview, he also hesitated to pick himself in the team. However, he ended up picking himself nonetheless. In the goalkeeping position, it was not a surprise as he selected his teammate Alisson Becker.

This is not the first time, Virgil van Dijk has shown his respect for Lionel Messi. He showed it when his former national team manager Louis van Gaal trolled the Argentinian World Cup team.

The Dutch defender supported the Argentinian captain with his comments after the World Cup

After the World Cup glory, ex-Netherlands manager Louis Van Gaal made comments against Lionel Messi and the rest of the Argentina team. He said that the tournament was rigged to go in the favour of La Albiceleste. However, the 32-year-old defender was not having any of the comments. The Dutch captain calmly answered the question in the best way.

He said that the comments from his ex-boss are only entitled to him. Virgil also made it clear that he did not agree with the opinions made by the former Manchester United manager. Before the World Cup semi-final, the Liverpool defender had called the Argentinian one of the best players of all time.
