Birmingham City left fans stunned as it decided to sack manager Wayne Rooney after just 15 games with the side. With the world reacting to the news, English pundits Gary Lineker and Micah Richards hosted an emergency episode of their ‘The Rest if Football’ podcast to discuss Rooney’s sacking. During the podcast, Micah also compared the Englishman’s appointment with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s takeover of Wrexham, stating it was a ‘type of Hollywood signing‘.

Earlier today, an official media statement was posted by the club stating that it had decided to part ways with Wayne Rooney following a poor display. Following his expulsion from Birmingham, he will now look to refresh himself before stepping into any new role.

Gary Lineker and Micah Richards were quick to react as their fellow Englishman, Wayne Rooney, was shown the way out of Birmingham City following a forgettable stint with the club. While he was brought in to deliver instant results, the Manchester United icon managed just 2 wins in 15 games, forcing Birmingham City to part ways in just 83 days. Lineker, while commenting on the dismissal, stated, “It just shows you really, doesn’t it? Doesn’t matter how great you are as a footballer, it doesn’t make coaching any easier“. Micah then made an interesting comparison with the Wrexham owners. He added, “Well, he was brought in for the sort of Hollywood signing, as it were. We see what’s been happening at Wrexham and for them, it’s worked! You know they have done a brilliant job down there”.
